Depart. Visit Ingebretsen’s Scandinavian store. Ingebretsen’s has been serving the Scandinavian community in the Twin Cities area since 1921, and is one of the oldest Scandinavian stores in the country. It is both a Deli and a Gift Store, so here you will find both gifts and food from Scandinavia! |

Arrive Alexandria, MN. As we get into town, we will stop and look at Big Ole, “The World’s Biggest Viking”. We will then visit the Kensington Runestone Museum. This stone (if it is authentic) proves that the Vikings where in Minnesota long before Columbus. Lunch on your own.

Arrive Hjemkomst (Homecoming) Museum in Moorhead, MN. This museum features the modern Viking ship “Hjemkomst” (Homecoming), which was built in Minnesota and sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to Bergen, Norway. The museum also has an exact copy of Hopperstad Stave Church, in Sogn, Norway.

Arrive Scandinavian Heritage Park, Minot, ND. See the statue of Sondre Norheim, “The Father of Modern Skiing”. He was born in Norway, and was well known as a fantastic skier. He emigrated to America, and settled near Minot, ND. |

Norsk Høstfest. This is the biggest Scandinavian festival in the USA, with more than 100,000 visitors throughout the 6-day long event. Everything is indoors, and there are many halls filled with exhibitors selling everything you can think of that has Nordic or Scandinavian flair to it. There are many stages with ongoing entertainment all day long. The restaurant “En To Tre” is run by some of the best chefs in Norway, and offer some of the best cuisine in Norway. And of course you can buy lutefisk and meatball dinner....

Arrive Corn Palace. The Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD, is a popular tourist attraction, with more than 500.000 visitors every year. From August to November each year, the palace is decorated with murals made of corn! We will have a guided tour of the palace. Group dinner at or nearby the Corn Palace.

Visit the SPAM-Museum in Austin, MN. Hormel Foods SPAM product is derived from SPiced Ham. A Monty Python sketch, first televised in 1970, shows a group of Vikings in a restaurant in England is singing “SPAM, lovely SPAM, wonderful SPAM” so loud that they interrupt everything else. This is the origin of the modern use of the word “spam”, a term for unwanted and junk emails.
